Q: What inspired you to attend Clark Atlanta University (CC, AU, or CAU, and how did your time there shape who you are today?
A: What inspired me to attend Clark Atlanta University was the warm and welcoming feeling. I got that every time I took a visit. My mother is an alum of the university, and we would frequently visit campus just because, and it always felt like a second home. It has shaped me to be prepared for the career that I am in now by giving me the tools of professionalism, the find a way or make one attitude, but also CAU shaped me into how to pour back into students like those who poured into me while I was at Clark Atlanta.
Q: Can you share a memorable experience or tradition from your time at CAU that still resonates with you?
A: I have a lot, but one that is always memorable was being able to be a part of my now best friend’s Ms. Senior process. I had so much fun helping her campaign and being out on the promenade having a good time, and the excitement and joy we shared with her when she won.
Q: How has being part of the CAU alumni network, especially in the Carolinas, impacted your personal or professional journey?
A: Being a part of the CAU alumni Carolina‘s network personally has given me great joy, being able to be connected to alumni that have come before me. From the time I became a member, I have always felt invited and included in all the things that go on.
Q: What advice would you give to current CAU students or recent graduates navigating life after college?
A: The advice I would give to recent graduates navigating life after college is first, welcome to adulting; it may feel overwhelming at times. Develop your support early on so that you have spaces and people you can lean on in times of uncertainty as you navigate what your next chapters will look like. Be proactive, be willing to learn, and always remain humble, as you never know where and/or whom your next opportunity may come from.
