Freedom to Dream, Courage to Serve
“Brothers and sisters, God has called you to freedom! Hear the call, and do not spoil this gift by using your liberty to engage in what your flesh desires; instead, use it to serve each other as Jesus taught through love”. Galatians 5:13 (The Voice)
As we celebrate the month of July, our thoughts naturally turn to freedom. We are grateful for the liberties we enjoy, and the sacrifices made by those who came before us. Yet, as people of faith, we understand that freedom is more than a privilege; it is a responsibility. God has given each of us the freedom to dream, to pursue purpose, and to use our gifts in meaningful ways. Our education, experiences, and accomplishments are blessings that have opened doors of opportunity. However, true success is not measured solely by what we achieve for ourselves but by how we use our blessings to uplift others.
As alumni, we carry a unique responsibility. We are stewards of a legacy built by those who invested their time, talents, and resources so that future generations could thrive. Our freedom to dream should inspire us to envision a brighter future for our alma mater and our communities. Our courage to serve should move us to mentor students, support alumni initiatives, and give back in ways that make a lasting difference.
This month, let us reflect on the dreams God has placed within us and ask how those dreams can be used in service to others. May we honor the past by investing in the future, and may our lives be a testimony that freedom finds its highest purpose when it is joined with service.
PRAYER
Gracious God, thank You for the gift of freedom and the opportunities You have placed before us. Help us to dream boldly, live purposefully, and serve faithfully. Give us the wisdom to use our gifts for the good of others and the courage to invest in the next generation. May our legacy be one of faith, service, and generosity. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.
