Preparing for the Next Season

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” - Isaiah 43:18–19 (NIV)

August often feels like a bridge between seasons. Summer begins to fade, students prepare to return to school, organizations resume their regular rhythms, and many of us find ourselves setting new goals after months of rest and reflection. It is a reminder that every new season offers a fresh opportunity to grow, serve, and walk more intentionally with God.

The prophet Isaiah reminds us that God is always at work, creating new opportunities where we may only see familiar paths. Sometimes we become so focused on what was, or what could have been, that we fail to recognize the new doors God is opening before us. Faith invites us to look ahead with expectation rather than behind with regret.

As alumni, we have been blessed with education, experiences, and relationships that continue to shape our lives. Those blessings were never intended to remain with us alone. They are gifts to be shared through mentoring, serving, encouraging, and investing in those who follow behind us. Our legacy is measured not only by what we accomplish but by the lives we inspire.

As this new season begins, ask yourself:

  • Where is God leading me next?

  • Whom can I encourage with my gifts and experiences?

  • How can I be a blessing to my alma mater and my community?

May this month be one of renewed vision, faithful service, and confident expectation as we trust God to guide every step.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of new beginnings and fresh opportunities. As we enter this new season, renew our minds, strengthen our faith, and guide our steps according to Your will. Help us to embrace the future without fear, knowing that You have already gone before us.

Bless every member of our alumni family. Prosper the work of their hands, protect their homes, and grant them wisdom in every decision they make. Inspire us to use our knowledge, influence, and resources to uplift others and to faithfully support the mission of our beloved institution.

May we be people of hope, integrity, compassion, and service. Let our lives reflect Your love in our families, our workplaces, our churches, and our communities.

We trust You for every new opportunity that lies ahead and thank You for Your faithfulness in every season.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen.
