Membership Spotlight: Nicole Bell
Q: What inspired you to attend Clark Atlanta University (CC, AU, or CAU, and how did your time there shape who you are today?
A: BET’s Teen Summit first put Clark Atlanta on my radar, and when I finally toured the campus, it felt like home right away. It was the only school I wanted, and it gave me some of the best parts of who I am today.
Q: Can you share a memorable experience or tradition from your time at CAU that still resonates with you?
A: One of my most meaningful memories is the support of my CAU friends, especially during my senior year. After having my daughter just before classes began, they took turns caring for her in the business school basement so I could stay on track. Thanks to them, I graduated on time, and their support remains a blessing in my life 27 years later.
Q: How has being part of the CAU alumni network, especially in the Carolinas, impacted your personal or professional journey?
A: When I moved to Charlotte in 2009 to support my family, I immediately sought out my CAU family. Since the alumni chapter hadn’t yet been formed, it was an honor to become a charter member and help build the network. I later served in leadership as secretary and president, and contributed to planning the 2015 Fall Conference and the inaugural Scholarship Brunch in 2018. Even though I’m back in Atlanta now, Charlotte will always be my chapter, and I remain committed to serving.
Q: What advice would you give to current CAU students or recent graduates navigating life after college?
A: Connect and stay connected with not only students, but your professors, faculty, and alumni. Continue to build the legacy.
